Dr. Ben Simonton loves being and is a proud board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. During his residency, he was trained to reconstruct faces after car accidents, gun shot wounds and dog bites; to correct jaw abnormalities and treat jaw tumors, not to mention complicated extractions and implants. He has performed countless general anesthetics in the operating room, learning how to safely put patients to sleep and wake them back up. This does not include the thousands of in-office anesthesia cases completed safely.

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are the surgical specialists of the dental profession, undergoing extensive training that begins with dental school and continues with at least four years of hospital-based surgical residency. An OMS is truly an expert in face, mouth and jaw surgery. Each OMS trains alongside residents in general surgery, internal medicine and anesthesiology. They also spend time in other specialty areas, including emergency medicine, plastic surgery and otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat).
